Thank you for sharing this with us. My husband and I are slowly working our way through the national parks with our two daughters and this makes me want to move Redwood to the top of our list.

“Marco was always trying to get higher. He still is.” These two lines are haunting and heartbreaking. May he find what he’s looking for. May we all. 💛

Wow I love this so much already. Everything about it - from Reepijeep (that IS an awesome and valiant name!) to the photos and the concept. Love, love, love. But please tell me at some point you’ll visit the Giant Sequoias in Kings Canyon/Sequoia NP??? They’re close to my home and I hope you’ve been there before and that they make it on your foraging itinerary. (I think I need to learn about foraging now.) Yes, Yosemite is stunning (particularly this year with all the rain) but the much quieter Kings Canyon and its enormous trees are breathtaking. Thanks so much for sharing this with us free readers. I may have to level up my subscription because I don’t want to miss this journey!

KJ. This is so beautiful. An echo of what is beginning to happen in my heart after some incredibly hard years, this spring was full of facing the darkness of my past so I could find the goodness. Grateful for your words. ♥️

I may or may not have had “Journey to the Past” from Anastasia playing in my head while reading too, okay I’m done now. 🤣

Yes, I got the Reepijeep reference! Love our friend Jack. I should try that book series again.

I grew up with parents who were definitely not outdoorsy (except the beach, but even then, we had beach hotels), and I’m so excited to experience this journey vicariously through you!

All your writings about interdependence made me think of 1 Corinthians 12-14, where it talks about spiritual gifts and how to use them well. We use our creative gifts out of love, and I read the creation story yesterday morning, and God created out of an abundance of love too.

All of these photos and this kind of revelation from your travels leaves me in speechless awe.

One more thing, am I shallow for now being really excited about the potential book cover for this? So many possibilities! 😍

Please forgive me for my past comment, I was insensitive and wrote impulsively without thinking.I have enjoyed your writing immensely, and have read your books and included them in my bibliography in my papers for graduate study at Goddard College in Vermont. Part of my degree plan at Goddard was writing an Inspirational, faith based and hopefully useful, memoir. And your books have been a big part of what type of book I have been aiming at writing. Out of hundreds of books I looked into, your books have resonated in my heart as ringing golden and genuine and truly inspirational. The other thing is that in 2014 I married a mycologically gifted husband, and married into a mycological oriented family who actually organize the state I live in Weekly forays and teach about this subject! I thought I had signed up for a membership here but it looks like I may need to renew. I am praying with your happiness in mind and thank you for sharing the stories about your travels and the state parks. I have been blessed by your joy!

Such beauty you have shared. Sister Maria once told me in her poetess’ wisdom, that I should bloom where I have been planted. I too, later went through spiritual abuse in a church, and later developed many illnesses and immune system dysfunction I wonder when reading your books and now here, if the spiritual abuse causes dysfunction and could then be healed by spiritual healing, such as the Sacrament of Healing by a holy elderly Priest or Pastor? I hope you are blessed by sacred and holy healing! Blessings upon blessings! Emily Anne Burghardt

Wow. Absolutely gorgeous. I know how much work it takes to share. Thank you. I hope you saw so many wonders beyond this, but this lifted my soul tonight. Thank you.

To your fire theme, a new friend nicknamed me "fire-starter" earlier this Spring. I always just wanted to affect people. I wanted to make them feel what I feel and see what I see. Perhaps you and I have been burned by fire, yes, but I also know that God uses his little fire-starters to burn the chaff away of what's around us. Because only then can we all see what's really pure. I will pray for your pilgrimage. I'm on my own, too. Like Abram's, mine starts with leaving my kindred and going to a land unseen.

This is all so beautiful, KJ. I teared up at the part where the parents apologized for their little girl, but you spoke delight at her presence. Thank you for taking the time to write what and how you see.
